MAINE SPECIAL OLYMPICS
The Special Olympics mission remains as vital today as it did when the movement was founded in 1968. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Making a Difference in Maine!
Every day we empower athletes to shatter stereotypes and exceed their personal bests on the playing field and in life. But for every inspiring Special Olympics athlete in Maine there are 8 more people waiting for their chance
and so many more around the world.
Every day, athletes across Maine train and compete. Our athletes are inspiring. They take our breath away every day with their spirit, strength, resiliency, determination, and enthusiasm. Your contribution will help us reach one more person.
